LoveIOM: Where to eat off the TT course

TT 2022 is finally here and whilst we’re very excited, sometimes we all fancy a visit to some of the quieter, lesser frequented spots around our isle, avoiding the crowds and hopefully trying somewhere new. We’ve rounded up a list of some of our favourite spots away from the TT tourist traps so whilst everyone else is watching the bikes whizzing by, you can be enjoying a (relatively) peaceful day out.

The Abbey

Fine dining nestled amongst an ancient monastery in the heart of Ballasalla, this is the perfect spot to escape the TT hustle and bustle and indulge in delicious food in equally exquisite surroundings.

Wednesday – Friday: 10:30 – 15:30; 18:30 – 22:00

Saturday: 10:30 – 17:00; 18:30 – 22:00

Sunday: 10:30 – 17:00

The Forge

The Forge is a smokehouse and grill situated inside a lovingly renovated Manx barn set in the delightful surroundings of Santon. Next to a babbling stream, you wouldn’t know you were on the edge of the main road – a haven of peace for the TT fortnight.

Bradda Glen

A restaurant found in the south of the Island, with food as breath-taking as the views. Whether it’s a hearty lunch, afternoon tea, or a Sunday roast, you’ll be sure to find something for everyone at Bradda Glen.

Friday & Saturday: 11:00 – 21:00

Café at the Sound

Possibly the furthest from the world-famous mountain course you can get, the café at the Sound is found on the very southernmost tip of the Isle of Man. Serving a range of Manx produce from fresh fish to cakes and coffees, enjoy a race free afternoon of peace here.

Secret Pizza

The worst kept secret in the Island, Secret Pizza Co serves a range of freshly prepared pizzas in the heart of Castletown. With regular live entertainment, you’ll still have fun whilst dodging the TT shenanigans.

The Station

A classic Manx pub in Port Erin serving food and Manx and International drinks, found in the centre of town opposite the train station. Perfect to stop off at whilst you spend the day in Port Erin whilst the racing is on elsewhere!

Foraging Vintners

A delightful, indoor/outdoor wine bar on the quay in Port Erin serving handmade, local fizzy wine with a selection of local produce to snack on. It feels like a slice of the Med on a regular day so the perfect location to relax away from the race action.

The George

A traditional Manx pub and hotel, the George is open all day for meals from a hearty breakfast, to a good pub lunch and evening meal. In the centre of Castletown, it’s another great place to spend a day away from racing during TT.
